Lighthouse Bluegrass Festival
Kick off the weekend with an Old timey dance. Bring your RV's or camping gear and settle in for 3 days of fabulous bluegrass music from all over North America. Take a workshop with your chosen instrument. Jam in the parking lot till the wee hours. All set in a beautiful grassy location with great acoustics, local food and vendors, and a 5min walk to the beach.

Every summer, Parksville hosts the Canadian Open Sand Sculpture Competition, which started in 1982 and has evolved into a Master Sculptor competition. The three-day event draws artists from around the country and abroad. The event is held during the month-long Parksville Beach Fest and participants must register prior to the festival. Sculptures remain in place for approximately four weeks following the competition.

Milner Gardens invites you to a picnic on the lawn on BC Day. Come enjoy a day with your family and friends at Milner Gardens.
We encourage you to bring a blanket and a picnic lunch on the front lawn or in the orchard. There will be a refreshment stand with smokies and hotdogs available.
There will be live music as well as lawn games set up around the Garden for everyone to enjoy.
Regular admission and membership rates apply.

We have a variety of local musicians performing seasonal music from choral to instrumental, including one sing along evening on opening night. Volunteers from the local library delight children and parents alike with storytelling, and musicians will entertain in the Milner House, decorated in old fashioned Christmas splendour. Guess the number of teddy bears in the gardener's cottage to win a prize or bid on silent auction items. Gift shops and tea room will be open. Home-made jams made from fruits from the garden make tasty gifts. All donations support the garden. Although the Gardens are lit up we suggest you bring a flashlight. No reservations taken for the tea room. Golf cart shuttle available for those with mobility issues.

This celebration of wildlife is dedicated to the Black Brant geese that take a rest stop along the shore around Parksville and Qualicum Beach, on their way to Alaska from California and Mexico. Thousands of other waterbirds, seals, eagles and sea lions are also attracted to the area during this time by the spawning Pacific herring. Every year the main street of the village is closed to traffic and 6,000 people from Vancouver Island and Vancouver's Lower Mainland visit for this fun-filled family event. Vancouver Island's famous chili cook-off is one of the centrepieces of the Qualicum Beach Fire and Ice Street Festival where up to 25 teams in their decorated booths compete for the coveted "Peoples Choice Award".
Ice carvers will be at various locations throughout the town where spectators can gather round to watch as they work their magic with chainsaw and chisel on two large blocks of ice. Carvers come from across Western Canada to compete for prizes at this annual event.
Musical entertainment comes from 3 stages situated at various locations around town and music varies from country to, folk to rock, plus there is a “Kids Zone” for the younger set.
Qualicum town offers a unique mix of gift & specialty shops, boutiques, galleries and restaurants. The area is also home to artists and artisans, many of whom welcome visitors to their studios. Qualicum Beach is located on the sheltered eastern shores of Vancouver Island, just 40 km. north of Nanaimo.
