          St. Mark's Fair celebrates 36 years as one of the Island's oldest and largest markets with over 130 vendors selling antiques, collectibles, rare and used books, jewellry and linens. The white elephant tables have something for everyone and the hamburgers are a gourmet delight. There's entertainment, a petting zoo and face painting for all ages. St. Mark's Fair is between 8:30 and 3:00.

              Canada Open Sand Sculpting Competition

              Aug 08 to Aug 10
              Every summer, Parksville hosts the Canadian Open Sand Sculpture Competition, attracting artists from the region, the nation and other destinations. Solo or team contestants are given 14 hours to craft their masterpiece made of sand. The event is held during the month-long Parksville Beach Fest. Participants must register prior to the festival.

              The 2007 exhibit will be up until Sept. 3, 2007.

                Parksville Beach Fest

                Held a few weeks each August, this celebration focuses on the glories of sand. View master sand works, some made of 10 tons of the grainy material, at the Canadian Open Sand Castle Competition. Other events include a classic car show, beach volleyball and croquet tournaments, and stage presentations.

                  The Coombs Fair, first held in 1913, has been celebrating agriculture in Oceanside for almost 90 years. The fair features animals' barns, domestic science, horticulture, art displays, and more. Enjoy the music stage, relax with homemade pie and tea or grab a burger from the concession.                     The Annual Brant Wildlife Festival

                    This celebration of wildlife is dedicated to the Black Brant geese that take a rest stop along the shore around Parksville and Qualicum Beach, on their way to Alaska from California and Mexico. Thousands of other waterbirds, seals, eagles and sea lions are also attracted to the area during this time by the spawning Pacific herring. The festival celebrates the increased wildlife activity through a series of events, including eco-tours, bird counts, nature photography and wildlife tours.
